KARAM ALHINNAWI

Director of Technology

Karam Alhinnawi is the Director of Technology at Model UN Academy, an edtech nonprofit that's engaged over 18,000 students worldwide with 1.5 million words of free resources on diplomacy through Model UN. As Director of Technology, he works directly on maintaining, and enhancing the Model UN Academy's website, as well as adding new features to make the learning experience more engaging to students.

Raised in Syria, Karam saw the challenges that students were facing when learning through Arabic resources, and he founded a nonprofit organization named CodeCraft, which aims to upskill the Arab Youth through providing free, Arabic-first, high quality courses in digital skills, bridging the gap between Arabs and the modern skills they need to excel in the job market. He also worked as a software developer with Focal X Agency, a Syrian marketing company.

Karam is on the Syrian National Debate team, he is a national and international debater and debating coach, and he participated in the Yale Summer Debate Program in August 2025. He is very passionate about Climate Change and has done research at the New York Academy of Sciences on Air Pollution, and he also is the only Syrian to participate in the 360plus Leadership Collective program on Climate Change taking place in India in 2026.
