MOHAMMAD ATIYA
Community Director
Mohammad Atiya is the Community Director at Model UN Academy, the world’s largest youth-led educational Model UN nonprofit, with 17,000 students across 101 countries. As a current Political Science student in DePaul University’s 3+3 BA/JD Program, he’s driven by a belief in organized communities, informed leadership, and purposeful action.
Mohammad is a Civic Justice Organizer Fellow at the Muslim Civic Coalition, where he engages communities on voter education, policies, and urgent action alerts, while directly working with lawmakers on issues impacting communities across Illinois. In addition, he’s the Co-Lead for the 2025 Young Adults Civic Leaders Fellowship, supporting Fellows across the nation in becoming civic leaders.
Mohammad has attended 32 conferences (7x international qualifier) and won 28 awards (6 international). He’s the Vice President and Under Secretary General of DePaul University Model UN. He built DePaul’s first high school Model UN conference from the ground up, hosting over 400 delegates from the Chicagoland area. As the former Secretary General of General Assemblies for Carl Sandburg High School, Mohammad also helped host and plan Carl Sandburg’s conference, which hosted over 750 delegates during his senior year. Furthermore, he served as a Committee Chair for Chicago International Model UN and Carl Sandburg Model UN. He continues to remain active as a delegate at the collegiate level.
